Hvítur looks towards the elements that shape my inspirations as a freelance designer; as well as delivering a selection of curated briefings on creative culture; and offering an insight into the projects that are carefully crafted at my desk.
An evolving notebook of thoughts and ideas, visual short stories, collected inspirations and narrative vignettes.
A single photograph taken each day for a year that will evolve into a comprehensive visual smorgasbord of my life.
A handpicked selection of extracts from the continual stream of visual stimulation I produce at my desk.
Marc Javier

San Francisco photographer and designer Marc Javier has some beautiful images over on his new site. One of my personal favorites to date is the capturing at work of craftsman Joe, which forms part of a series of works focussing upon artisans and people knowledgeable in fields of various analog objects - those who continue to make a living working with their hands.
Javier is also on the verge of launching a new project entitled ‘miPhoneography’ where he is inviting contributors to submit images taken using their iPhone.
Javier’s photographs have a raw and honest emotion to them allowing you to totally immerse yourself within the moment in which they were captured.
Bruxe x On & Beyond

Vincent Tsang of On & Beyond has been busy working on a nice project - the Bruxe Fall 2010 Lookbook.
Montreal-based photographer and art director Tsang aka One And Beyond, recently created this amazing preview of the toned down pieces for the Canadian bag maker who creates messenger bags, carry-all’s and laptop bags for the urbanites on the move.
Men Of Monocle

As part of J.Crew’s series ‘In Good Company’, the Monocle team take time out at their London headquarters to pose in this seasons key looks.
The shoot took place just before Christmas as the J.Crew team descended on the Monocle offices after creative director Jenna Lyons suggested doing a ‘Day In The Life’ style shoot with the Monocle team.
Federico Ferrari

Photographer Federico Ferrari has launched his print shop. Here you can find some of his images printed in a very limited edition of 10, unframed and printed on a ISOuncoated_v2 - fogra39 certified paper.
Ferrari has also launched a Tumblr based blog that features photographs collated from around the internet that acts as a great source of inspirational finds.
Ryan Willms

Hvítur launches the new personal site Inventory Magazine leader Ryan Willms on the Squarespace platform. Inventory launched following the huge impact of h(y)r collective - the online magazine Ryan started in 2008. He has also worked with the likes of Monocle, Stussy, Gitman Vintage and Ransom.
This site will allow Willms to make notes of different ideas, references and things that he’s generally interested in. While in a similar vein as Inventory, this journal will include a more personal touch, more of his photography and insight into what he’s up to.
The Dark Lens

Star Wars On Earth, aka The Dark Lens is a series of images by master advertisement photographer Cédric Delsaux that has been a work in progress since 2005, but is now complete.
The way Cédric Delsaux created these lovely amalgamations was to photograph a location first, then to set up action figures and models to be placed, finishing by combining the two with some fabulous computer magic.
Brooklyn Tailors

Think Etsy is all about stuff knitted by your Grandma? Think again. Brooklyn Tailors’ bespoke and ready-to-wear products represent an appreciation for handmade quality, authentic materials, and a pride in small artisinal production.
Each item they design is produced one at a time, by a small team of craftspeople, affording us a unique and increasingly rare level of control over the quality of our products and the personal service that we are able to provide.

Experience McQ

The website of Alexander McQueen is currently giving visitors the chance to experience his life and work in the fashion industry through a short film.
With clips of the designer working to footage from some of the most iconic and groundbreaking runway shows, this film allows us to remember what a true artist and fashion icon he was.
Tahti Syrjala

Ireland based Finnish-American Tahti Syrjala is taking sites like Lookbook by storm with her avant-garde sense of style.
With beautiful photographs taken either by herself or her younger sister Maeve, the make-up student and stylist with an obsession for shoes, looks like she stepped right out of a modern day, highly tailored interpretation of Alice In Wonderland.
Norwegian Sunrise

Take a few minutes to relax and unwind with this beautiful film, found over at OEN, by Leif Johan Holand of the most spectacular mountain peaks in the Sunnmøre region in western Norway.
They used a Cineflex V14 HD Camera system in an AS350B3 Nord helicopter and flew around whilst the sun rose. These are one off shots captured in a certain timeframe.
Leibovitz x Baryshnikov

Thank you to Michael Allen for pointing me towards the ‘Shooting Stars’ feature for Louis Vuitton Journeys.
As part of the campaign, the cameras get turned on Annie Leibovitz and captures her and friend Mikhail Baryshnikov, one of the greatest ballet dancers of the 20th Century, in an intimate conversation, as well as allowing us an exclusive behind the scenes look at the accompanying photo shoot.
The Gentlewoman

This has been circulating for a while but I kept forgetting to post it. Fantastic Man proudly presents the much-anticipated preview of The Gentlewoman, a magazine that doesn’t exist. Yet.
Scheduled for release in 2010, readers of the latest issue of Fantastic Man were treated to a sneak preview.
